Jozy is a very sweet and athletic girl who loves to snuggle, but also loves a good game of chase or tug. She has gotten much better about being crated and lies quietly until released. She adores her roommate, an 80# lab, and the two play constantly or cuddle during breaks. Jozy loves to go for walks and doesn’t chase after smells. She can clear a 4 foot chain link fence but comes right back when called. Her ears look a titch houndy, but her heart is pure lab. She will probably be most happy in a home with another dog where she has an opportunity to get plenty of exercise.
Update from Jozy's Foster Family - Nov 23, 2017: My name is Jozy and I came to Lab Rescue because I trained the cats too hard and they complained to my boss. They call me a labrahound; I may look a titch houndy, but my heart is pure lab. I do not have a mean bone in my body- even if those nasty old cats said so.
I have a foster buddy with whom I play constantly (my favorite game is tug), kiss, and snuggle. I am two years old and weigh less than 50 pounds, which is a great size for snuggling with you. I love to go for walks and don’t chase after smells, like many hounds do. The FP’s have even had me off leash and I have been sticking around and coming back when they ask me to. I am behind a 4’ fence and am not interested in leaving, even when my buddy tries to climb over; if I get enough walks, I probably won’t need a fence.
I am still learning my inside manners- and treats really help me remember them: I take them very gently. I have been accused of taking things that don’t belong to me, but the only thing I hurt was a nasty old cone- those should be illegal, anyway. The FP’s are surprised at how I know the difference between playing with dogs and playing with them, but even playing with my foster buddy, I don’t bite and grab, but he is pretty gentle too.
I would be happiest in a home with another playful dog, and/or with people who are home most of the time. I like to be with you, but I am pretty good about doing dog stuff when you are busy. I am learning to like the crate, but still protest if I know people are still around, but treat toys help me forget. The FP’s say I am very smart, but I do have a really good tutor.
Update from Jozy's Foster Family - Nov 28, 2017: Jozy has gotten a lot more comfortable in her foster home as time has gone by. She can not be trusted with a telephone, having paged us on intercom and having called a relative out-of-state at a very inconvenient hour. She decided the grass was greener on the other side of the fence and jumps or climbs the 4' chain link to go visit the residents, or just run in the bigger yard. If we see her start to launch and correct her she comes right to us and if she jumps her fence, she stays in the larger fenced area, or tries to go through the dog door to visit the residents if they are inside. She is a very sweet and athletic girl who loves to snuggle, but also loves a good game of chase or tug. She has gotten much better about being crated and lies quietly until released- or makes phone calls if she sneaked the phone in with her. She adores her roommate, an 80# lab, and the two play constantly or cuddle during breaks.
Update from Jozy's Foster Family - Dec 8, 2017: Jozy is doing great in her foster home. She LOVES the other dogs and loves to play. She is good in her crate and can have bedding with no issues. She is a people seeker and will climb a fence but only in order to get to the person on the other side! She is super sweet and loves attention. We are working on her puppyish manners and she is a quick learner and eager to please!
Jozy is a 2 year old spayed 45 pound black female. She is up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. She is approved for kids 10 and up and is cat approved!
