Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.
-
Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >
-
Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Acey
Gender:
Male
Age:
2 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Ace it with Acey!
Check out what we've got up our sleeve! Handsome Acey is looking for a fun-loving home that can shower a young Lab with all the love and exercise he needs! This boy is very playful, so a human friend (or friends!) or maybe even a young dog buddy would be a dream come true for him. He's still young, so his new family will need to be prepared for puppy energy. Acey is a smart boy who knows basic commands, and is looking forward to learning more! He is crate trained and stayed in one when his previous family went out, or when there were visitors and he got a little too excited. Acey loves to play with and retrieve his toys, and he used to go to doggy day care. If you're ready to draw a royal flush, come meet Acey today!

Amos and Schiff

Male/Male Bonded Pair
Age:
Both 9 years
Good with:
Kid 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Dynamic Duo!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.
Meet Amos and Shiff, handsome littermates and bonded pair looking for a new home because their mom's work schedule made caring for them difficult. These fun, happy boys are quite active for their age. Amos loves to play fetch, but Shiff isn't a big fan. Running around, sniffing the yard, is great fun for either guy. The boys enjoy car rides and going for walks but need a little work with their leash-walking. They are smart and know a few cues, even some hand signals, (sit, stay, lay down, drop it, come here) and are eager to learn more. Amos and Shiff are both very affectionate and will lick and paw you for attention. Ready for a dynamic duo to brighten up your life? Amos and Shiff are ready to join you!

Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Looking for a sweet treat?
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.
Sweet Basil is looking for a loving home! This boy was surrendered by his former owners after being picked up as a stray. While waiting for his new family at the shelter, Basil and his chill personality helped shelter staff learn whether other dogs were dog friendly or not, which was incredibly helpful in finding their new homes. He's now hoping for his own chance at a happily ever after! Basil is a distinguished senior who enjoys gentle walks and relaxing with his people. He is good with and very tolerant of other dogs and gently corrects young, overenthusiastic pups so they learn proper doggy manners. If you'd like sweet treat in your life, come meet Basil today!

Bonnie (aka Five)
Gender:
Female
Age:
5 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence (no e-fence) and another dog
Sweet pup!
Meet Bonnie! This unique little pup inherited her black Lab mom’s sweetness and a stunning blue merle coat from her mystery dad. Medium-sized, Bonnie has already proven herself to be an excellent housemate—she’s potty-trained, well-socialized with big dogs, small dogs, and cats, and gets along with everyone. Though she’s shy, Bonnie is blossoming in her foster home, learning to trust and thrive in a quiet environment. She needs a loving home committed to continuing her socialization journey with patience and love. Bonnie is fully vetted and ready to meet the perfect family who will help her shine. Could you be Bonnie’s forever match?

Coco
Gender:
Male
Age:
11 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home
Lovable frosty face!
THANKS TO A SPECIAL DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIORS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS ONLY $125.
Sweet Coco is spunky, chunky, lumpy, and a little bit wonky, but oh, so lovable! Coco is an older gentleman who has brought so much fun to his foster home. Coco had to learn to live with other dogs, since he always been an only dog. It took a week of slower introductions and he became best buds with Tank, another senior foster. They steal each other’s toys, play follow the leader outside, and sit shoulder to shoulder for treats and loving. Coco plays with toys in spurts: throwing his stuffies in the air or bringing a tennis ball for a throw, which he happily ‘hippity hops’ over to fetch. Coco has excellent house manners and only barks (briefly) when he sees someone coming or going. He does have a wide range of vocalizations, which keeps his foster family amused. He enjoys shorter walks and is nicely behaved when he passes dogs and pedestrians. THis "old" boy is as sweet as can be and just wants a loving home for his golden years.

Drake
Gender:
Male
Age:
7 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Drake is Divine!
Drake is an absolute love bug! He just wants to cuddle and be petted. He loves getting attention from people. Drake gets along with both dogs and cats. He is working on his leash skills and will come with a training addendum. Drake would love a family with a fenced yard that would love him unconditionally.

Fiona #2
Gender:
Female
Age:
10 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home, fence negotiable (no e-fence)
Sweet as can be!
Sweet Fiona is a young Lab who landed at the shelter as a stray at a young age. She became a shelter favorite - mascot if you will, while she was there. She was a little shy going into the vet's office but once she got in there she was Miss Congeniality once once again. She enjoyed her playtime with many other dogs at the shelter. Fiona is very sweet and wants to share her happiness with a family.

Fondue
Gender:
Male
Age:
1 year
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home, fence negotiable
He will melt your heart!
Fondue is a handsome, sweet boy. He is a good rider and very friendly. He is good with other dogs but may play a little to rough for some, so senior pups might find him a little feisty. Fondue is keeping his area clean at the vet and is loved by all. More on Fondue as we get to know him better.

Gage
Gender:
Male
Age:
1 year
Good with:
Kids 8+, Dogs
Needs:
A loving forever home (fence negotiable)
Happy pup!
Gage loves everyone! He’s kind of at that age where he is calling or texting constantly and just needs to be assured, “yes, Gage, I still love you.” He is irrepressibly happy and does need exercise during the day so you can spend those quiet nights snuggling in front of the fire. Gage seems to know some commands (sit, down, paw), but is very strong on leash so will need a steady hand at first. He did not bother the cats at the shelter and ignored the cat at the kennel, so he may be okay with them. Gage’s first home had toddlers, but given his “joie de vivre”, we think he would be best with kids 8 and up. His ideal home would have a fenced yard with lots of interactive play with humans, or another playful dog.

Hershey/Hattie
Gender:
Female
Age:
7 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a (negotiable) fence
Delightful Hattie!
Hershey, now called Hattie, is a very personable wiggle-butt. At her first shelter, she was the official dog tester for incoming dogs. Now at her foster, she has been playing hard with her foster brother, enjoying the snow, and then coming inside to collapse on the nearest bed. Hattie is no slacker when it comes to staying busy, and her ideal home would have another playful dog. This friendly girl does need more practice on the leash, as she is so intent on meeting everyone she can. She visited the vet this week and thanked the staff with massive quantities of kisses. Hattie is smart and a quick learner. She goes to the door when she wants to go out, scratches to come back in, and has also learned to use a dog door. A very sociable girl, Hattie eats very slowly and prefers that you stay with her. She will leave what’s left in her bowl if you leave the room. She has been with cats and didn’t get excited when an old, crotchety one preemptively swatted her in the face. She does, however like to herd chickens!? If you’re looking for a super sweet, affectionate, chicken-herding love-bug, Hattie may be your girl!

Hunter #2
Gender:
Male
Age:
10 months
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats, no townhomes
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Ready for fun!
Handsome Hunter #2 is a super friendly, happy, energetic boy who needs a new home! He is hoping for a active new family who will enjoy his puppy energy and has time to train him while enjoying all the fun they'll have together! He dreams of a home where he can get lots of time to run and fetch, his two favorite pastimes. He loves car rides, but will try to help you drive just to be close to you. He adores every human he meets and craves attention. Hunter is super silly, just a big goof. He runs and plays with such joy and gusto, it's hard not to feel happy when you're with him. He'll do best in a home with plenty of space in a fenced yard to run and get all those zoomies out; walks won't be enough for him. This lovable boy will bring some big energy and even bigger happiness to his new family.

Huxter
Gender:
Male
Age:
4 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Handsome Huxter!
Huxter has been with his fosters for a little over 2 weeks and has settled in so well! Hux loves to play with tennis balls and will hoard them if you let him. He’s managed to get three in his mouth at once in the pursuit of having all the balls. He enjoys fetch, but likes to rest after a few throws, then keep playing fetch. It’s a cycle. Huxter seems to want to play with other dogs, but his way of inviting play is very barky. Huxter is working on his leash skills and does best with a harness. He does bark at other dogs he sees when on the leash. Hux loves being outside and laying in the sun. He has a prey drive and will chase away squirrels and birds. When he’s inside he loves to sit at the window and bark at the critters. Once he’s warned away all intruders, he’s happy to find a dog bed and take a nice nap. Hux likes to be near people when they’re home, and will be your little shadow following you around the house. Hux is crate trained but does not need to be crated when his people are away and has free roam of the house at all times, and he’s been a dream. He’s fine going up and down the carpeted stairs, but the basement stairs scare him. He loves his ears and booty scratches and will stand next to you begging for more until your fingers cramp. Hux takes treats gently, and knows sit, lay and paw.

Kellsie
Gender:
Female
Age:
3 years
Good with:
Kids 10+, Dogs, No Cats
Needs:
A loving forever home with a physical fence
Fun-loving Kellsie!
THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR, WHO THINKS EVERY LAB DESERVES A HOME OF THEIR OWN, THE ADOPTION FEE FOR THIS PUP IS $200.
Kellsie is a snuggly, active young girl. She is a high energy, and likes to play with male dogs and mellow female dogs. She also likes to chill outside and sunbathe after getting some zooms out in the yard. Kellsie warms up slowly to new people, but she can easily be won over with patience, a gentle voice, and cookies…lots of cookies. Kellsie knows most basic obedience cues, walks nicely with a head halter, and loves sniffing and exploring. She comes when called and takes treats gently. Kellsie hopes her people will enjoy taking her to agility or on hikes/long walks, and will welcome LOTS of sweet snuggles. If you are looking for a loyal, active, fun companion, Kellsie would love to meet you!

Ready to play ball!
Handsome Kemper was a stray who showed up at someone’s house and nobody claimed him. Now he is so excited that Lab Rescue will help him to find his new family that he can just taste it. He is the sweetest boy and the shelter staff are completely smitten with him. But he wants a home and a family to play fetch with.
