SENIORS

Important Notes:

  • Finding Your Perfect Match: Below are brief descriptions of some of our dogs that are available for adoption. Because the list is constantly changing, we recommend that you apply to adopt as soon as you are ready and work with an Adoption Coordinator, who can provide you with more info about dogs that are a good match for you and your lifestyle.

  • Adopting with Children: The safety of children in an adoptive home is one of our greatest priorities. Learn more about our approach to placing dogs in homes where little ones are present.

  • Adopting as a Townhome or Apartment Resident: As many of our dogs come from rural areas—where they have limited exposure to cars, new people and dogs, unexpected noises, and being leashed—we may limit placements for some dogs to single-family homes. Learn more >

  • Adopting & Fences: We require fences for some of our dogs for a range of reasons. Learn more >

  • Heartworm: About ten percent of our dogs are diagnosed with Heartworm disease during their initial vetting. Heartworm is treatable, and Lab Rescue provides treatment for all infected dogs at no cost to the adopter. Learn more >

Jacey

Gender:

Female

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence and another dog

Happy girl just finding her way!

Jacey's tail will not stop wagging, even when she is uncertain! This girl has made tremendous progress in her foster home, but she can still be timid and unsure at times. She is a gentle kind soul who wants so much to be loved; she's continuing to work on being brave in order get the attention she seems to crave. Foster mom reports she is happy girl despite her past and loves to stand quietly and be petted. Her favorite thing however, is playing with her best friend, the resident dog! They love to wrestle and run about in the yard. Jacey is so excited to see her friend every morning. She will need a home with another dog who is just as playful and confident as her newest friend. Jacey sleeps on a dog bed at night, and is both house-trained and crate-trained. In fact she loves her crate, since she realized it means treats...she will just run right in and wait! Jacey needs a quiet home in a more rural area for her to be her most relaxed self. Foster tells us that as long as her new family can be patient with this sweet gal, and has a canine buddy for her to romp with, she will be a sweet and easy addition to their lives. Jacey is considered hospice due to the malignant growth in her mouth, but she doesn't know she's sick. Jacey is on the smaller side for a Lab, so if you're looking for a pocket-size Lab, she'll be a great fit! If you'd like to give a good girl all the love, come meet Jacey today!

Jethro

Male

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence

Jaunty Jethro

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIORS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS ONLY $125.

Jethro is hoping he will have a rags to riches story! His recent story is sad as his owner passed away and a neighbor was coming to feed him. But now that he's come to Lab Rescue, Jethro knows his Beverly Hills is just around the corner. Jethro is proving to be a very happy camper at his foster home while he awaits a forever situation. He is a fantastic house guest that does not require a crate at any time. He loves the outdoors and does very well walking on a leash. Jethro maintains a youthful exuberance despite his age. He has a great energy level that can bring joy during play, and peace during calm. He does love a good nap after play, as do we all. The foster for this positive canine reports he has both a happy bark, and a resting smile. With that combination, how can Jethro not brighten up an adopters day? He needs a home with limited steps for those old man joints. He likes to walk around and explore outside. He's a friendly, very-good-boy who will make some family very happy. With loving care from a new family, Jethro will become a delicious chocolate anyone would crave!

Rudolph

Gender:

Male

Age:

9 years

Good with:

Kids 10+, Dogs, Cats

Needs:

A loving forever home with a physical fence and only dog in the home

Rudolph the Chocolate Lab!

THANKS TO A GENEROUS DONOR WHO WANTS TO HELP ALL SENIOR PUPS FIND THEIR FOREVER HOMES, THE ADOPTION FEE IS $125.

Rudolph is a super sweet senior dog, and happy is an understatement for this guy! He loves a good butt scratch and a sniff around the yard. He is a strong guy, so a fenced yard over leashed walks is recommended. He is good with cats, not reactive on leash or behind fence towards dogs, but would prefer to be the only dog, so he is the center of your attention. He does not want the shenanigans of other dogs. Rudolph is kennel trained and is clean and quiet in the kennel. He loves a good puzzle toy and will carry stuffed toys around the house like a prize! He has not displayed any resource guarding, and so far he has pretty good house manners too! Rudolph knows sit, down, come, leave it, and wait!
